The geotagging system of Flickr Maps explains this number. In Flickr Maps you can locate the photo in several levels of accuracy, you don’t need to find the exact place. For example, you have 100 photos from NY, you select all them with the Organizr and drop them together any point in NY without zooming very much. That’s all, you have all them geotagged. Is that really geotagging? Well, it is not clear, but common people is not going to find the exact location of every single photo, so for Flickr users it can be a good enough system.

However if you are a geo nerd, you may like our project, Panoramio, a community of geolocated photos. In Panoramio you can locate your photos via drag and drop interface using Google Maps. Photos with geodata in EXIF are automatically located. You also can watch the photos in Google Earth through KML feed.

I’d love to hear your opinion about Panoramio.
